Welcome to RollTech MicroSystems

RollTech MicroSystems was created to open access to world-class expertise in microfabrication. Our mission is to support innovators and companies developing novel technologies — providing them the tools, insight, and services needed to turn bold concepts into working products.

We provide end-to-end microfabrication services. Our work spans microfluidics, thin-film components, flexible electrodes, and miniature pumps/sensors—sometimes MEMS when appropriate, and roll-to-roll approaches where they add speed and cost efficiency.

What is MEMS?
Micro-electro-mechanical systems—tiny machines built on chips or films.
They combine mechanical structures (like pumps, valves, or resonators) with sensors/actuators and electronics to perform useful work at micro-scale.
 
What is roll-to-roll manufacturing?
A continuous, web-based process that patterns and assembles devices on flexible substrates as the material moves through rollers. It’s designed for speed, throughput, and cost efficiency, and it supports large-area and flexible form factors.
 
What is R2RMEMS?
Our approach to MEMS: we design MEMS devices specifically to be manufactured with roll-to-roll processes. This alignment of device architecture with continuous production delivers dramatic cost/performance gains and opens up new applications and products that aren’t practical with traditional batch fabrication. We call this roll-to-roll MEMS or R2RMEMS.

Funded Co-Development (By Invitation)

Our primary business is quick-turn microfabrication services on in-house equipment. For funded teams with ambitious device goals, we also run short, paid feasibility sprints that de-risk designs using structured DOE, characterization, and validation on our lab stack. If a sprint hits the success metric, we can propose a tight, milestone-driven follow-on program without slowing day-to-day service work
